Synopsis

Within the current wave of digital transformation, blockchain technology is one of the main levers of change. Although it is generally associated with cryptocurrencies, its field of action transcends finance and its potential usefulness reaches practically any sector of productive activity. In a matter of time, the use of blockchains will extend to the entire socio-economic spectrum: from banking to public administration, from rental contracts or energy management to tourist reservations. As with the TCP/IP protocol, which we do not know how it works, but which governs all our movements on the internet, users will not ‘see’ blockchains, but we will enjoy increasingly secure and efficient services based on them.

The philosophy of blockchain is that it is a system that stores information in chains of blocks in order to avoid its modification once the data has been published. The blockchains temporally order the information by linking each block to the previous one so that, to change any one piece of data, all the preceding blockchains would have to be altered; hence the powerful security it offers.

In today's large and diverse internet, decentralised networks like blockchain will be the next technological foundation of cyberspace, as they allow smart devices to communicate with each other better and faster.
