Synopsis

The duality between leaving and staying, between the one waiting for us abroad and the one we miss at home. Pausa, azúcar, Sevilla gives words to the bittersweet feelings of an increasing number of young people who, for one reason or another, leave their country to go abroad. The story invites us into the private rite of Helena, 27, who lives in Sweden, and her grandmother, 94, who lives in a small village in the Tarragona region. A moment of tenderness, complicity and unspeakable secrets, with the taste of Rasquera pastries and the smell of coffee that grandmother and granddaughter always share when the young woman visits her home, just before she leaves.

Pausa, azúcar, Sevilla is the winner of the 15th 'Caterina Albert' Short Story Prize for Young People, organised by the UAB and the Cerdanyola del Vallès Town Council.
