Synopsis
Agreement GOV/62/2025, of March 11, approving the Statutes of the Autonomous University of Barcelona
Article 172.1.c) of the Statute of Autonomy of Catalonia establishes that the Generalitat holds exclusive competence regarding university education, and without prejudice to university autonomy, this includes the approval of the statutes of public universities and the norms of organization and functioning of private universities.
Public universities draft and approve their statutes by virtue of their university autonomy. Subsequently, these are approved by the Government of the Generalitat, with prior legality control, in accordance with the provisions of Article 103 of Law 1/2003, of February 19, on universities of Catalonia.
The current Statutes of the Autonomous University of Barcelona are those approved by Decree 237/2003, of October 8.
In compliance with Organic Law 2/2023, of March 22, on the University System, the Senate (Claustre) of the Autonomous University of Barcelona, in the extraordinary session that began on May 30, 2024, and concluded on June 20, 2024, agreed to approve the new Statutes of the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
Once compliance with current legislation has been analyzed, and in view of the provisions of Article 26.e) of Law 13/2008, of November 5, on the presidency of the Generalitat and the Government;
For all these reasons, at the proposal of the Minister of Research and Universities, the Government
Agrees:
-1 To approve the Statutes of the Autonomous University of Barcelona, which are included in the annex to this Agreement. -2 These Statutes replace those that were approved by means of Decree 237/2003, of October 8. -3 To publish this Agreement in the Official Gazette of the Government of Catalonia (Diari Oficial de la Generalitat de Catalunya).
