Mercat de l’art, col·leccionisme i museus
Since October 2012, scientific conferences or seminars have been held regularly on an annual basis with the title of Art Market, Collecting and Museums, which have permanently resulted in the publication of volumes with the papers presented. Currently, this material already forms a true corpus of valuable documentation around the phenomenon of collecting and the art market in Catalonia.
Our intention with this conference has been to create a platform where we can present research results and discuss them comfortably with all the different sectors linked to the arts: academics, museum professionals, antique dealers, gallery owners, dealers, experts, restorers. , collectors and fans in general. We are convinced of the full complementarity of all these points of view because the progress of collecting throughout history has always been parallel to the formation of museums and the configuration of knowledge and the study of the arts. For this reason, we have believed in the usefulness of a day in which to meet and share information and knowledge, with a friendly format and in a place with a strong symbolic imprint in the history of collecting in Catalonia such as the Maricel Palace in Sitges.
